Become Immortalized in a Mini-Murder Mystery

Here's your chance to start a cocktail party off with a bang. E. Z. Graves, editor and publisher of Horror on the Installment Plan, will write a 250-word "mini-murder mystery" about how you were killed! We will post it on our Purgatory Blogs and send you a copy to do with as you please. Read it to your wife or husband (she/he always wanted to see you dead) or show it to your pals at work. You can say you were killed off by a professional horror writer! Simply send us a brief physical description of you (or attach a photo) and whether or not you want E. Z. Graves to use your real name or a fictitious name and your real physical description. Please be as specifically detailed in your physical description as possible. You may also specify any "killer" you want to do you in (zombie, serial killer, alien, werewolf, etc.).  Go to our submittable site to post your physical description and buy your mini-murder mystery.

"I'm excited to be featured in 3 issues so far. This looks to be a very nice place to go for short horror," JG Faherty, author of Carnival of Fear, Cemetery Club, The Cold Spot, and the Stoker-nominated Ghosts of Coronado Bay.

Hellnotes Review.

Flash!  Premier Volume 1, Issue 1, "Zombies and Children," is now on sale until July when the regular sales will begin.  Click on the Issues for Download on the upper-left.

These are Some of the Stories We Will Feature Beginning the First Week of July to Paid Subscribers and buyers of HOTIP:

For example, in our lead story in the theme of "Home Alone," called "The Basement," author Jeff Poole brings us a situation we may have all faced.  Somebody we know may be missing, and we are aware of where he could be.  But, should we enter to find out?  You will find out when you enter "The Basement."

Next, J. T. Seate, in his second HOTIP appearance, takes us inside "This Old House," where the rivalry of two sisters leads to a tale of horrendous proportions.  This story could just as well have appeared on "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" back in the day.

The third story is from the publisher/editor, E. Z. Graves, and it concerns a problematic search on the web where a military wife finds out a lot more than she ever bargained for.  Are drones becoming the new terrorist weapon of choice?  Find out in "Pterodrone."

Finally, to complete our quartet of stories for this week, we have HOTIP regular, J. G. Faherty’s "True Love Never Dies."  This story is a cozy little tale about a husband who has trouble getting to sleep.  What keeps him awake will also keep you awake.

* * *

In our issue called "Freaks of Society," we know that freaks are popular because they represent the misshapen values of commercialism and our need for freaks to make us look better to ourselves.  However, in the 1932 classic film, Freaks, those freaks take out their revenge on the strong man, and in this week's issue of Horror on the Installment Plan, you will see other freaks who also get some amount of revenge.  However, in J. G. Faherty's "Jennifer's Body," the woman becomes a freak at the very hands of our specialized medical profession.

We hope you enjoy all of these stories, and that you'll continue to subscribe to each for another roll of the dice in our themed issues.  Freaks are merely unlucky with the genetics they are given, and any one of us could be a freak due to fate or accidental dismemberment.

We introduce Nick Medina, a writer with a flair for the dramatic, and his "On the Edge of Town," gets down to earth about our freakish souls.

Following his fascinating story of freaks, Tracy Carbone gives us "Etta and Jojo," which, she tells us, was inspired by the painting of a lunatic asylum.

The last story, "Best Foot Forward," by writer extraordinaire, Troy Seate, takes us into the life of a modern-day hunchback.  It reminds us that we are just an accident away from freakdom, and we must count our blessings, lest we forget the lessons these stories teach us.

* * *

Finally, in the issue theme of "Terror in the City," we deliver stories based on confrontations within the inner cities.

In the lead story, “Forevermore,” E. Z. Graves tells the story of a decorated Union Civil War hero who wants to prove that his artist hero, Edgar Allan Poe, did not die in infamy in Baltimore.

In our second story, “Masquerade,” Maggie Denton brings us a city with creatures that are bio-engineered to cover their real monstrosity.  They are following Arlen, and he is aware of them and the city that protects them.

Next, in a provocative story called “Groomsman,” by Brian Kirk, a young man just wants a little taken off the top, but this barber is employed by some people who give closer haircuts than the lad ever bargained for.

In our fourth story, a weird story by Amanda Davis called “Jelly Rules the Roost,”  business was never this way in your city, perhaps, but this is a city that caters to strange appetites, and Jelly Wings is one guy who can deliver it to them.
